Rylee Milhorn is having a phenomenal season, as she has already recorded 5 double-doubles this season and was tabbed SoCon Offensive Player of the Week for September 17-23.
She recorded a team high of 34 kills between a victory against Western Carolina and a defeat against University of North Carolina Greensboro.
The victory against Western Carolina represented the Bucs well as ETSU defeated the Catamounts 3-1. Before the game, three players were honored for their individual performances throughout their career including junior standouts Hailey Aguilar (Chicago, Illinois) and Alyssa Kvarta (Crown Point, Indiana) and senior Rylee Milhorn (Kingsport, Tennessee) as they all reached the 1,000 milestone mark in their respective fields of play.
After the game, Head Coach Lindsey Devine earned her 250th overall win here at ETSU, while in her 15th season.
“I didn’t even know that milestone was coming up,” Devine said. “I get more excited when my players reach those milestones. I am so proud of Alyssa, Rylee and Hailey, and what is remarkable about this is they each have done something 1,000 times really good.”
Devine’s humility is probably what makes her the great coach she is. Since 2005 she has churned out 20 players that have been voted all-conference while coaching Briana Allmon (2016) and Megan Devine (2012) to Player of the Year honors. In 2014, she led the U.S. Women’s National team to a gold medal at the NORCECA World Championship, and in 2016 she led the U.S. Girls Youth National Team to a silver medal at the NORCECA Women’s U-18 Continental Championship.
Devine graduated from York University in Toronto, Ontario where she played from 1984-88 and placed bronze in the 1985 Canadian National Championships. Devine then began her coaching career as an assistant for a U-17 boys’ volleyball team and there was named Coach of the Year in 1999-2000. Devine began her tenure here at East Tennessee State University 15 years ago and we look forward to many more.
Devine will coach the Bucs in yet another match on Friday as the team takes on Furman on the road.
