The ETSU community and the public are invited to be part of a Celebration of Life Service in memory of Dr. Chris Dula on Sunday, Jan. 13, at 1 p.m., in Brooks Gymnasium.  Dula died Jan. 8 after a courageous battle with brain cancer.

Dula was a well-known and beloved faculty member who joined the ETSU Department of Psychology in 2004.  He had a profound influence on the thousands of students who took his courses, and he will be forever remembered for the many ways he encouraged and inspired them to be successful, realize their dreams, and engage in the transformational power of higher education.  In addition to being known for his love of music, Dr. Dula was a strong advocate for giving back and serving the community.

To honor Dr. Dula’s tradition of collecting food for those in need, guests attending the Celebration of Life Service on Sunday are encouraged to bring canned food items.

During his tenure at ETSU, Dula earned the highest honor awarded to an ETSU faculty member, the ETSU Distinguished Faculty Award for Teaching, and he was the keynote speaker at Commencement in May 2016. Dula received numerous awards and honors while at the institution, including the School of Graduate Studies Outstanding Mentor Award in 2015. Later in the Spring semester, the inaugural Dr. Chris Dula Day of Service will be held. at ETSU.
