The Center for Physical Activity is offering students yet another opportunity in the spring of 2020 – a one-on-one free consultation with a personal trainer.

While students used to get two free sessions, many did not know about it, so the campus is focusing on the free one-hour consultation and working to make sure all students are informed about the opportunity.

“I definitely hope that students will take advantage of the one-hour free consultation they can have with a personal trainer because the trainers here at the CPA are super knowledgeable and can really help students with the fitness goals,” said Caleb Atkins, a student who works in the CPA. “This benefits the CPA as well because giving students a free trial run with a trainer will encourage students to sign up for more training sessions and hopefully motivate them to come and exercise at the CPA even more.”

Not only does the CPA offer affordable personal trainers, but they also have 120,000 square feet of weight room and cardio space, an indoor track, fitness studios where multiple group fitness classes are taught every week, a rock-climbing wall, multiple basketball/volleyball and racquetball/squash courts, an indoor swimming pool and more – and it’s all free for students.

They offer programming in five areas: aquatics, fitness and wellness, intramural sports, sport clubs and outdoor adventure. Outdoors, students can enjoy the Basler Team Challenge and Aerial Adventure Course, Campus Recreation Field Complex, intramural/sport club fields, the University Woods trail system, a nine hole disc golf course and six tennis courts. Not only can students enjoy all of these amenities, but starting in the spring, they can also add a personal trainer to the mix.

While Atkins said he has not had a session with a personal trainer yet, he definitely plans on using his free consultation next semester.

In the meantime, you can find the CPA’s Group Fitness finals week schedule online for a schedule of classes being offered for the rest of the semester. Winter break hours begin Dec. 14.
