Women’s basketball has had a rough start to the 2019-20 season with a current overall record of 2-6. The Bucs started the season with an impressive fight against the University of Tennessee, but unfortunately started the season with a loss.

However, the Bucs haven’t been anything less than fierce on the court, coming out with a big win against No. 1 ranked in the Sun Belt Appalachian State 67-61 and a down to the wire one point lead to win over Liberty University.

The Blue and Gold have had some outstanding performances from their payers including Senior Erica Hayne-Overton (Nashville, Tenn.) who started the season being named preseason All-Conference and Micah Scheetz (Knoxville, Tenn.) who gained her career-high of 26 points within a 36 minute period against North Carolina A&T.

The Bucs will end the fall season at home in Brooks Gym against South Alabama on Friday, Dec. 20, which the Bucs lost to in the 2018-19 season 81-74 and Converse College on Tuesday, Dec. 31. This will be Bucs first time facing the team.

The Blue and Gold will begin their Southern Conference play in January starting with a game against UNCG, which the Bucs remained undefeated against in the 2018-19 season. The Bucs will be at home seven out of the 15 conference games coming in the spring.

Their next game will be the second home game out of the three consecutive. They will play against Wake Forest on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. This will be the first time the Deamon Deacons have come to Johnson City since defeating the Bucs 76-51 in the 1992-93 season.

This will mark he ninth-ever meeting between the teams with Wake-Forest holding a 6-2 advantage over the Bucs. Make sure to come on out and support your women’s basketball team as they take on Wake Forest.
