Starting on March 3, Buctainment is holding a showcase opportunity for organizations, clubs and departments to show students looking to get more involved in what they have to offer.

“We will have around 40 organizations and five to 10 departments there interacting with students as they pass through,” said Haley Mullins, event coordinator.

The Spring Organization Showcase was formally known as the Winter Cruise before the Culp renovations began and as the Culp changed. Buctainment felt the name of the event should change as well.

“We changed the name from Winter Cruise because we wanted a more inclusive and descriptive name,” Mullins said. “Leah Adinolfi, Alexis Petrak and I were trying to think of a theme, and the showcase was initially going to be on Main Street in the new Culp and run through the Cave, but with the historical Culp staple, the rock in the Cave, we put a creative twist on it and decided to name it ‘Rock the Reopening.'”

Mullins and Buctainment are hoping to attract all students and encourage them to get more involved on campus by meeting and interacting with all of the various organizations offered at ETSU. There will even be a scavenger hunt going on during the event.

“The scavenger hunt is to encourage students to come and fill out their ‘passport’ they will receive upon entering the Ballroom,” Mullins said.

Mullins encourages students to visit the different tables hosting the variety of organizations. Once students have enough signatures, they will receive a prize. Prizes are not just limited to students attending and participating in the showcase, but prizes will also be awarded to the organizations tabling through the showcase.

“We will be declaring a Best Overall Booth award each day for the organization that really decorated and dressed to theme,” Mullins said.

Organizations that have signed up to be in the showcase will have activities ranging from corn hole, photo booths, trivia, giveaways and more. The event takes place March 3-4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Ballroom on the upper level of the newly renovated Culp.
