The Student Government Association’s spring 2020 concert featuring rock band X Ambassadors was officially cancelled Monday.
The decision to cancel the concert was made following ETSU’s decision to hold all classes in an online format for the remainder of the spring semester to reduce the spread of COVID-19. According to the Tennessee Department of Health’s website, as of Thursday evening, March 25, there were 784 cases of COVID-19 in Tennessee.
“We had already had our T-shirt design,” said Roxy Reed, SGA secretary of exterior. “They hadn’t ordered our T-shirts yet because they were like, ‘We don’t know what’s going on just yet.’ We had already ordered tickets and everything, and everything was kind of set in stone.”
SGA met on Tuesday via Zoom, where one of the issues they spoke about was rescheduling the spring concert.
“We are looking at staying with the genre and the band for the next semester,” said Reed
Reed said SGA is considering rescheduling X Ambassadors for next semester and making it the fall concert. Reed said if that happened, the concert would likely take place around September.
Carter Warden, the director of Student Activities and Organizations, said he was looking at possible dates and checking their availability.
Reed said while they are looking at the possibility of rescheduling the X Ambassadors concert, no decisions are currently being made.
“We just now decided it was going to be cancelled, so we really haven’t went into much detail about rescheduling the concert besides looking at if we can,” Reed said
