On April 26, the Intramural Sports program hosted a Virtual Trivia night for ETSU students.
Students had the opportunity to compete to win a prize. The Intramural Sports program has been offering both online and offline activities for students this year, each event within COVID-19 regulations.
“In a typical academic year, we off a wide variety of league sports and one day tournaments including flag football, basketball, volleyball, spikeball, cornhole, tennis, eSports and many others,” said Mitch Midwood, graduate assistant for Intramural Sports.
The Intramural Sports program recognized the challenges ETSU students faced being away from campus because most classes were online due to COVID-19 concerns, and they helped provide many events for students. The Intramural Sports program hosted the event on their Twitch account as they have hosted several other events online to connect the students not physically on campus, as well as the students who are.
Virtual Trivia night offered an array of questions and an opportunity to connect with other ETSU peers.
The Intramural Sports program has also hosted other online events this semester, such as a Rocket League tournament, a FIFA 21 tournament and an Among Us tournament.
“With COVID, we have had to get a little more creative in our programming by offering more virtual and physically distanced sports,” Midwood said. “After working out the kinks of live streaming on Twitch, we marketed the event to everyone who has played intramurals with us in the past, and to student staff members who work at the CPA.”
Participants of Intramural Sports events all had the chance of winning a free Intermural Champ t-shirt. Next semester, more events online and in-person will take place.
