A 13-year-old pug named Noodles has been forecasting the outcome of the day to Jonathan Graziano’s 2.6 million TikTok followers, and the rest of the internet.
These forecasts are deemed “bones” or “no bones” days. Nearly every morning, Graziano posts videos to his TikTok account holding up the pug, and then letting him go to see if he is able to stand up on his own. If he stays upright, it is deemed a “bones” day, which is interpreted as a forecast for a good day. A “no bones” day is a forecast for a bad day– an excuse to cancel plans or sleep in longer.
The sensation has taken over all social media, even garnering the attention of The Today Show, where the duo did a live “bones forecast” on air.
“Now today’s reading is a little different, we were invited to The Today Show to talk about ‘no bones’ and do a live reading,” Graziano said on-air. “As you know, Noodle has to be first-thing-in-the-morning, super mushy, to get an accurate reading, but we decided with all the positivity around this, it was good to do it live. And sure enough, bones day is upon us… I hope you all treat yourself today, make time for yourself, I know I am.”
Since the original “bones day” video In August, other creators have come up with song renditions and crafts relating to the pug. Graziano himself created his own merchandise for the phenomenon, coining the Threadless shop the “Noodle No Bones Boutique.”
