Buctainment is head-starting a Field Day on April 8 at noon for the ETSU community to come together for a full day of activity at the CPA front yard.

Field Day is being held to in honor of the late Joanna Bishop, who was an ETSU student and Buctainment member; one of her wishes while working for the organization was to provide a day for students to participate in field events.

“We plan this event in honor of her and the joy she wanted to bring to campus,” said Madison Ross, Buctainment’s staff programmer. “She was only with us for a short time, but she had such a drive and passion to volunteer and plan events.”

Field Day will consist of challenges such as tug-o-war, a 40-meter dash, kickball, a three-legged race and more. This event will provide team-bonding and building for each student organization involved while also allowing for networking with other participating teams.

Ross oversees membership and organizes events throughout the year. Student organizations interacting with one another can aid in providing future partnerships and connections that further intertwine ETSU.

“This will be a time to allow student organizations to represent their pride on this campus and collaborate with others,” Ross said. “We hope this event promotes inclusivity and engagement within ETSU’s community.”

Student organizations are encouraged up their teams by Tuesday, March 8, with a cap of 14 teams to be able to participate.

Buctainment is a student programming board for events on campus. With the goal of having people on campus enjoy their college experience, Buctainment hosts many events of its own and collaborates with other student organizations to aid in their event planning as well.

Students may get involved with Buctainment by attending their events, weekly meetings held in the Carrier Center of the Culp, or by emailing etsufun@etsu.edu.
