ETSU’s women’s golf team traveled to Kennesaw, Georgia, to compete in the Pinetree Women’s Collegiate competition on Monday, March 21, and Tuesday, March 22.  

On day one of the tournament the team started off strong, finishing round one on day one with five players in the Top-50. Freshman Sophie Bert (Deurle, Belgium) and freshman Sera Hasegawa (Gifu, Japan) were tied for seventh place, with scores carding over-two-par.  

Senior Hollie Muse (Liverpool, England) and sophomore Grace Chin (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) ended day one tied for 36th place, with scores carding seven-over-par. And senior Ellie Darnell (Kettering, Northamptonshire, England) tied with a player from UNCG for 43rd place with a score carding eight-over-par.  

The team at the end of day one ended in third place, finishing round one in first place with 18-over-par (296) and round two tied for third place with Northern Illinois with a score of 29-over-par (605).  

At the end of round two on day one in the individual rankings, Hasegawa ended in ninth place carding a three-over-par (147). Muse tied for tenth place with a player from Xavier carding six-over-par (150). Muse jumped forwards during round two with six birdies. Bert ended in a five-way tie for 12th place with seven-over-par (151). 

The Bucs entered day two of the tournament and finished well. As a team, they ended fourth place out of 12 teams with 47-over-par (911). 

Bert led the team on day two and finished the tournament in a tie for tenth place with a player from Xavier and a score of eight-over-par (224), having three bogeys and two birdies throughout the day. 

Muse and Hasegawa tied for 16th place with one other player from Lipscomb University carding ten-over-par (226).  

The team has a quick turnaround, heading back to Tennessee and playing in the Chattanooga Classic starting Sunday, March 27, through Tuesday, March 29. This will be the last tournament before the SoCon championships.
