On Wednesday, Sept. 21, ETSU-Con announced on their social media pages that they would be hosting their eighth annual convention on April 1-2, 2023.

ETSU-Con is one of the largest annual events held on campus each year. They celebrate all things pop culture, such as movies, anime, sci-fi, comics and more. This past April marked the first ETSU-Con since 2018.

During the event, ETSU-Con hosts artists, vendors, voice actors and more. ETSU students and faculty, prospective students and anyone in the public who enjoys pop culture, comics, anime, digital media, computer science, science fiction, fantasy, Japanese language & culture, digital & conventional art, theatre, storytelling and more are all invited to join in on the fun in April 2023.

ETSU-Con also established a new ETSU-Con Club. This club allows ETSU students to be a part of the convention on a year-round basis, encouraging the club members to be a part of the planning and setup of the convention. They held their first meeting on Sept. 20 to establish officers and explore roles and opportunities within the organization.

Leading up to the event, ETSU-Con will be sharing some of the behind-the-scenes photos and the people who make the event happen across their socials.

On Sept. 27, ETSU-Con discussed one of the faculty advisors for the event, Zack James. He is a professor here at ETSU and also one of the people who helped start up the convention.

ETSU-Con wrote, “Zack helped start ETSU-Con as a student back in 2013 with Fred P. and Nick P. Shortly after that, Zack took the leading position of Con-Chair to help orchestrate ETSU-Con for the next six conventions.” It is wonderful to see that a founding member of the convention is still involved with the planning and events.

More information on the event will be available in the coming months on the ETSU-Con socials, which can be found @ETSUConTN on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. Information will include vendor applications, panel applications, sponsors and guest announcements.
