On Oct. 14, ETSU hosted its Summer 2023 Education Abroad fair.
In addition to the in-person event at the Culp, there were also a number of different virtual sessions hosted over Zoom for students to learn more about the various international programs that would be available for next year.
The fair mostly focused on programs that would take place during the Summer 2023 academic semester. There were many booths set up with both faculty program leaders and representatives from ETSU’s international partner universities and organizations, such as API Abroad and Harlaxton College located in Lincolnshire, England.
For students who were unable to make it to this event, the Education Abroad program will be hosting more information sessions throughout the rest of the fall semester.
“Next week we will be hosting interest sessions over zoom which students can sign up for by visiting our online website,” said JoAnn Doll, ETSU’s Education Abroad coordinator.
The event was also held to remind students of the benefits and opportunities that studying abroad offers.
“There are a variety of diverse options for students of all majors and grade levels who want to study abroad. We really want to know a student’s goals for studying abroad so we can help them get what they want out of their experience,” said Doll.
Although many students may think Education Abroad only includes attending courses, ETSU’s program also focuses on work experience and opportunities overseas.
“A lot of students go abroad for internships and field work, such as nursing, public health or medical majors. There are also hybrid programs available for students as well,” Doll said.
Studying abroad can also help students down the road who are looking to be employed.
“Employers love to see applicants who have studied abroad. It helps develop people skills and intercultural skills which are important in the workforce,” added Doll.
