ETSU’s Global Medical Brigades is raising money in hopes of going to Panama to provide healthcare to those in need.
ETSU Medical Brigades is hoping to travel to Panama in January 2024. They are hoping to raise $2,600 to travel. Medical Brigades will serve those in Panama who do not have access to healthcare.
The group reaches out to underprivileged communities that often struggle to receive medical care. The Brigades treat hundreds of patients and keep records for their patients to accurately treat and track them.
Lauren Ross, Brigade leader, thinks this group and its purpose is not only important to these communities being served but also to student volunteers.
“We work in remote, rural, and under resourced communities in Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua and Ghana who would otherwise have limited to no access to health care,” Ross said.
The Medical Brigades takes student volunteers and allows them to learn and gain experience working in the field. The group offers a great opportunity to learn and travel. The trip to Panama will serve many patients who need medical care.
The Global Medical Brigades offers a unique and impactful opportunity to give access to important and necessary medical treatment to those who would normally not be able to receive it. This trip will help hundreds of patients in underprivileged communities gain the resources they need.
The brigade not only provides medical services but also helps the communities economy and water projects. The medical brigade is an important tool in helping those in underprivileged communities lead a better life and gain access to necessary tools. The Medical Brigade makes living in rural communities easier and more comfortable.
