The Office of the Executive Director of Academic Advisement offers “One-Stop Help Days” for students with questions about class registration, financial aid or housing. They are designed for students to receive assistance after scheduling classes for the semester.
Executive Director of Undergraduate Student Advisement, Megan Roberts, describes it as “ . . . a one stop to help answer any questions and remove barriers for students.”
They aim to service students who were not able contact their advisor due to conflicts, had issues registering for classes on time or need help navigating holds on their accounts. Students are educated on how to address their holds and who they need to contact in specific situations.
This semester’s One-Stop Help Days occurred on Nov. 15-16. Roberts shared that the help days are planned before big breaks in the semester, like Thanksgiving or spring break. “That way they can get all of their questions answered before they leave for those breaks,” said Roberts.
The One-Stop Help Days usually span for two days, from 11 a.m. through 2 p.m. To receive help, students can simply Zoom in from wherever they are. Roberts shared that using Zoom has benefitted everyone all around with its accessibility and flexibility; which has led to more students participating. “A lot of times we see people Zoom in from their work, or walking from class to class,” said Roberts.
For the spring semester, the One-Stop Help Days will be offered mid-April after registration in the beginning of the month. They are not meant to help with initial advising, but rather as a tool for lingering questions.
Information about the One-Stop Help Days can be found on the Office of the Executive Director of Academic Advisement website, social media or TVs across the campus. Details are also sent out to students via email.
