A person is in custody after being found with a pellet gun on campus that was thought to be real.

East Tennessee State University Officials said Friday that campus police received a report of a person acting erratically near the D.P. Culp Student Center. The incident was first reported by the Johnson City Press.

“Early reports indicated the man had a gun, but it was determined to be a pellet gun,” a statement from ETSU said.

An anonymous post from an ETSU social media group appeared to show the suspect being taken into custody.

Campus police responded and took the person into custody. Officials said the person was not an ETSU student and there was no threat to campus.

There was not a campus wide security alert issued at the time of the incident.
