From September 30 to October 6, ETSU will celebrate the Fall of 2024 Homecoming week with their theme of Top Gun – Bucs Take Flight, aiming to spread school spirit and festivity through themed events throughout the week. With a pep rally, a Top Gun Ride class, Top Gun Battleship games and a viewing of Top Gun: Maverick, Bucs are encouraged to buckle up for a week of fun in the clouds.

SGA Secretary Skylar Brackett helps plan civility events to promote unity and entertainment on campus. For this fall, SGA embraced the tradition of past homecomings and kept student-favorite events such as the pep rally, canned food drive, cornhole tournament and skit dance night.

“The rich traditions ingrained within the week foster school spirit and remind students that being a Buccaneer is a lifelong identity,” Brackett wrote.

Keeping all ETSU community members in mind, Brackett mentioned the importance of alumni reconnection and what the special week offers to the growing strength of school spirit.

“Every year, homecoming allows a week of fun for students and a chance for alumni to reconnect with the school,” Brackett wrote. “There’s a lot of nostalgia around this theme, and the undertones of competition and teamwork set a great tone for the week leading up to the big game.”

Homecoming week is a time for all Buccaneers to support each other, show off their blue and gold spirit and give back to the community that makes it all possible.

“Events like the Canned Food Drive allow students the opportunity to give back to the surrounding community that supports the school and our students,” Brackett wrote. “Second Harvest Food Bank consistently partners with ETSU to take cans to their business, and a great relationship has been fostered with them over the years.”

Homecoming Court student voting will begin on September 26 to elect the 2024 Homecoming king and queen. For more information on homecoming events and how to get involved, visit https://www.etsu.edu/homecoming/.
