On Monday, October 21, the ETSU women’s basketball team, aided by Head Coach Brenda Mock-Brown and staff, hosted Coach Mock’s first Buc Dreamer Camp.

The camp, which was held on campus inside Brooks Gym from 6-8 p.m., was a way for the entire women’s basketball team to interact with the local Johnson City community. On the flip side, the community members were able to see what a Division 1 basketball practice would be like.

In addition, the event itself was stylized as a normal practice; however, it was followed with a Q&A afterward. “This event gives adult members of the community a chance to live out their dream of being a Division 1 basketball player,” said Mock-Brown to ETSU Athletics back in September when the announcement for the event was made.

During the event, all attendees were able to pick up free ETSU basketball attire, along with drinks and the chance to interact and talk to team members and staff. ETSU women’s basketball welcomed nine new players, such as freshmen, Kennedy Younkin (Asheville, Ohio), and Cameron Richardson (Orland, Fla.) and others to the team this season, alongside returning stars such as senior Kendall Foley (Lebanon, Ohio) and fifth-year, Courtney Moore (Gainesville, Fla.) during the event, connecting with the local community and interested students, all in preparation for the new season.

Overall, the event was a great opportunity for the young Buccaneer team to practice, engage, and gear up for an exciting season. The ETSU Women’s basketball team is expected to finish among the top of the Southern Conference this season, given recent years success.

Tip off for the first game of the season will be on the road in Raleigh, N.C. against Atlantic Coast Conference foe, the N.C. State Wolfpack on Nov. 5 at 7 p.m.
