In partnership with the Wayne G. Basler Center for Physical Activity (CPA) and the Residence Hall Association, SGA will take over the Mini-Dome on Nov. 8 from 5:30 to 10 p.m. for a night of sports tournaments and activities as part of Family Weekend.

The competitions will include dodgeball, spike ball, cornhole and many others. Tournaments will be run by staff members of the CPA and team registration will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Another aspect of the event will be the showing of “Monsters University” from 8 to 10 p.m. People are encouraged to bring blankets to sit on the turf with. “You’re going to bring blankets, sit on the turf, just enjoy the night,” said SGA President Hunter Turgeon.

Food will be supplied by Pepper’s Food Truck, which was previously introduced to campus in the beginning of the semester. It will either be subsidized or available through meal swipe, shared Turgeon.

The CPA will be supporting by supplying staff to help run the event and giving equipment for the tournaments. RHA will be handling the giveaways of shirts which coincide with the theme of the ETSU versus WCU game, blue out. “We have a ton of blue out shirts that RHA has helped with funding and organizing,” said Turgeon.

Turgeon looks forward to seeing the Mini-Dome as an event space for students. “I am really excited to see that space being used,” said Turgeon. “Just to see the chaos that’s going to unfold when you have so many games and activities going on at the same time.”

Turgeon is also excited about numerous SGA events on campus such as an internship panel and Trunk-or- Treat event with UNICEF. “There has been a good amount of events just coming up very soon that I’m looking forward to,” said Turgeon.
