Sherrod Library is hosting some spooktacular events for students and the community this Halloween. On Oct. 31, there will be trick-or-treating from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and ghost storytelling from 6 to 7 p.m.
Arts and Humanities Librarian Sarah Bull and Student Engagement and Instruction Coordinator Lydia Gwyn, alongside the rest of the library staff, came together to figure out fun ideas that the library could partake in to celebrate Halloween.
“The first idea was a group party for the students. Then I had the idea, what if we did trick-or-treating so everyone can be involved?” said Bull.
This is the second year the library has done trick-or-treating, and the ghost stories have been going on for 5-6 years. The ghost stories are in collaboration with ETSU’s Storytelling Program, giving you goosebumps and a scare.
“Dean David Atkins, pushes for students success, engagement and involvement. So we’re really trying to enrich the student experience with these events,” said Bull.
These Halloween events and future events hosted by the library are to give students a sense of belonging, community and an opportunity to meet and make friends. The overall goal is for students to have a home away from home.
The library festivities don’t stop here. Be on the lookout for dead week events and hands-on workshops that students can participate in as they prepare for finals.
Put on your best costume and come out for trick-or-treating and bone-chilling ghost stories. Happy Halloween!
