Throughout this column, we’ve been through a long list of legends, cryptids, and ghost stories, but how many of them have circled around a stand-off with an alien-like creature?
With this new article, that count seems to be at one. Located in Christian County, Kentucky, between cities Kelly and Hopkinsville, our new cryptid has at least two known names; the Hopkinsville Goblins and the Kelly Green Men. Despite the different names, the story is pretty much the same.
In 1955, five adults and seven children saw these creatures (simultaneously) and shot at short, shadowy figures for at least two hours. When police went to check things out, they found no proof of the visitation that they had been told took place; aside from bullet holes in the general vicinity, there was no sign that anyone had been hurt. The police, finding nothing, left, but this wasn’t the last of the audiences’ problems. According to neighbors, the beings had returned sometime in the early morning.
While we know very little about these goblins, there are some interestingly things we know or can deduce.
We have rough sketches of the beast and an idea of what to look for, even if it’s doubtful of actually finding anything, especially if the kid had a poor memory. The other, lest lore building, and more of a specific tie in, there is a Pokemon based after them as well, under a new name of Sableye. One can compare original drawings with the new design and certainly see a resemblance. Most believe them to be aliens, though some doubters believe that it was a Great Horned Owl, frequently known for its large feathers which look like demon horns.
