In a lopsided 82-54 victory on, the ETSU Men’s basketball team ensured a 18th straight victory against the Tusculum Pioneers. Coming in off of a major upset loss to Eastern Kentucky, the Buccaneers made sure to double down, paving the way for a monstrous performance.

Starting with a 1-2 record on the early basketball season, a win against the Tusculum Pioneers was a huge boost in overall team morale, especially in the teams overall offensive ability.

The first half would see the Bucs shoot early and often, with what would become 11 three point shots, first lead to a 31 point, 50-19 halftime lead.

The second half would see similar offensive success, despite the Pioneers fighting back, the Bucs would be out scored 35-32 in the second. However, the Pioneers attempted comeback would fall short, crusing the path to victory for the ETSU squad.

The Bucs would overall shoot 55 percent from the paint. In addition, the long distance shots would see the Bucs post 52 percent shooting percentage.

Apart of the offensive fireworks, Sophomore Guard, Maki Johnson (Huntington, W.Va.) would net 12 total points in the win. Alongside Johnson, Junior Karon Boyd (Concord, N.C.), and Sophomore Gabe Sisk (Louisville, Ky.) would each net 11 points in the win.

With the recent success against the Pioneers, the Buccaneers have a great opportunity to continue their pursuit of greatness, learning from a major win to help improve against tougher competition down the stretch of the season.

The Men’s Basketball team returns to the court for action against former Southern Conference foe, The Davidson Wildcats on the road on Nov 16 with tipoff time scheduled at 5 p.m.
