The Fall 2024 Student Government Association concert took place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at the Freedom Hall Civic Center. Lisa Heller, Echosmith and The Driver Era created an electric environment for the huge crowd.

Lisa Heller opened the show with an unreleased song titled “This is the end.” Her energy and tunes filled the room, setting concert goers up for a great night.

“My song ‘This is the end’ is my most indie-leaning song and it’s super fun to perform,” said Heller.

Heller is a singer-songwriter with a natural love of performance and self-taught piano skills. “When I was growing up, I listened to a lot of adult contemporary music,” said Heller. “I didn’t really love what was on the radio at the time so my parents always played U2, old Coldplay stuff, The Script, and The Fray.”

Heller noted many singer-songwriters who inspire her writing, adding, “I always write based on my personal experience.” Heller’s music relates heavily to the younger generation, making ETSU students a perfect crowd.

Heller will be releasing a single titled “People Pleaser” in January and a six song EP in March. She thanked Alex Arnaout, guitarist, producer and boyfriend for his work on the upcoming releases.

Echosmith, a famous pop trio, took the stage shortly after with electric hits “Cool Kids” and “Bright.”

The Driver Era brought the energy and the hits, playing songs that got the crowd moving. Ross Lynch, lead singer, danced in his infamous cowboy hat while brother Rocky Lynch, lead guitarist, kept the music flowing.

The crowd was full of excited fans, many of whom waited hours in line to get a great spot. Jazmine Hann, senior, and boyfriend Jonathan Anderson, got in line at 12:30 p.m. to secure spots on the barricade. “This is our third time getting the barricade for The Driver Era this year,” said Anderson.

When asked what she is most excited for, fan Marley Johns replied, “Ross Lynch, definitely.”

Gheed Al Saji, Rocio Reynoso and Gracie Thompson, SGA senators, enjoyed their night of music while volunteering to help the show run smoothly. “I love volunteering. I think it is so much fun to get a different perspective on things going on at ETSU,” said Saji.

The SGA concerts make music accessible to students and are always a huge success. The headliner of the Spring 2025 concert will be voted on by students in the coming months.
