With the holiday season underway, ETSU is hosting various events for students, families and community members to enjoy.

Monday, Nov. 18, was the annual Holiday Lights event, where the campus lights were turned on and the ice-skating rink opened. Attendees enjoyed live music from the ETSU Jazz Ensemble, hot cocoa and holiday-themed treats. “I love that event,” said Hunter Turgeon, SGA president. “It is awesome watching our campus open up and become home to more than just the students, but a place for everyone who comes out.”

The Dining Hall will host a Thanksgiving lunch on Nov. 21 and a Friendsgiving meal on Nov. 22. The annual end-of-semester Pancake Breakfast will return during finals week. Turgeon shared that he looks forward to the event every semester. “The excitement that goes on during that event, I love that,” said Turgeon. “It’s a time when people can come and relax. It’s amazing.”

The next SGA holiday event is a pajama themed skating night in collaboration with Buctainment set for Dec. 5. There will be a holiday movie showing inside the Culp, an opportunity for students to get pictures with Santa and a silent disco. More information will be released soon through SGA and Buctainment social media.

The annual ETSU Holiday Concert is Dec. 7 at the Martin Center for the Arts. There will be two performances at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Over 250 performers will be featured from several choirs, orchestras and ensembles.

As the semester ends, Turgeon hopes students are taking care of themselves during the stress of finals week and finding outlets to decompress. “A lot of these events are a great way to make sure that you’re not overly stressing yourself out,” said Turgeon.
