As Ramadan closes to an end, the Muslim Student Association presents its Eid Banquet, the celebration of breaking the Ramadan fast. It will take place on April 4 at 7 p.m. in the D.P. Culp Student Center Ballroom.
“We’ve been around for a while, and the community is growing. There have been many students learning about MSA, so it’s a community-building type of organization,” said MSA President Rabia Okuyucu.
The MSA is an Islamic group on campus that connects Muslims and spreads awareness for Muslim and non-Muslim students on campus. The MSA provides community, friendship and a comfortable environment away from home.
The Eid Banquet is not only a celebration, but will also focus on the importance of Ramadan and how it represents Islamic culture. The banquet will be filled with traditional food and different activities.
“I want people to leave the banquet with a new perspective about Muslims and see that the Muslim community revolves around being a support system while knowing that you can ask questions and have good conversations with people,” said Okuyucu.
If you’re interested in the Eid Banquet, make sure to RSVP by April 2. The event is open to everyone. The MSA will be hosting more events this semester, so be sure to follow their Instagram for more updates.
