“Rupture,” a display of installation art by visiting artist Elissa Cox, is on display through Sept. 14 at Slocumb Galleries in Ball Hall.
Cox will give a free public lecture this Friday at 4 p.m. in the Ball Hall auditorium, followed by a reception from 5-7 p.m.
Cox is inspired by the human body and the natural landscape in her creation of seemingly organic, artificial spaces, which highlight “the contrast and overlap of the beauty found in the natural environment and that of mortal anatomy.”
Cox holds an M.F.A. from Ohio University and is an assistant professor of art at the University of Kentucky.
Regular Slocumb Galleries hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, with extended hours the day of the reception.
