When a team gives up more points than anyone in the conference (79.6 ppg) and shoots the league’s lowest percentage (38.2) like the Lady Mountaineers this year, it spells trouble. Were it not for a sweep of College of Charleston, Natasha Lettsome and her teammates could boast only a lone conference win, over Western Carolina on Jan. 23, entering the tournament.
Barring an upset or two, Lettsome will have to settle for individual success, as she not only is she the league’s leading rebounder (8.6 rpg), she is the runner-up to the scoring crown (16.3 ppg).
