A campus representative from the Feminist Majority Founda-tion, visiting Tuesday, praised ETSU’s Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance for the activities it has undertaken in its first year here.
Ardie Hollifield visits 15 campuses with FMLA chapters in the South and sees growing interest in women’s issues, especially in this region. Hollifield, a recent graduate of UNC-Asheville, describes FMLA’s mission as education and the advocacy by promoting awareness of issues like pay equity, violence against women, career opportunities and reproductive rights.
The FMLA at ETSU will sponsor a petition drive for ratification of the UN treaty on women’s rights on March 8, International Women’s Day, at the Culp Center. Other activities this semester include the Clothesline Project, March 19-22, commemorating victims of violence; Take Back the Night, March 26; and a campus cleanup on April 23.
Meetings are at 4:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, at the Women’s Resource Center in Panhellenic Hall.
