Were it not for an early season 85-54 drubbing in Chattanooga, the hard-charging Lady Eagles, winners of 11 in a row going into the tournament, would enter as the No. 1 seed. Instead, Rusty Cram’s crew must settle for second-best.
However, the league’s eighth leading scorer (12.5 ppg) and eighth leading rebounder (6.2 rpg), Sharon Mitchell, hopes to ensure she and the rest of the Lady Eagles don’t have to settle for anything else but the championship on Sunday.
She’ll be fed by dual team assist leaders Tiffany Lanier and Danna Simpson, who both registered 4.4 dimes per game.
