The Lady Catamounts struggled to be mediocre this year, and they failed to reach the .500 mark in conference, but don’t blame their shooters. They were the only team to shoot better than 45 percent in the league this year (45.1 percent).
Don’t finger Laura Echols or Christy Blackwell, either. Echols led the league in scoring (17.9 ppg) and was the SoCon’s fifth-best rebounder (7.0 rpg). Blackwell (4.8 apg) was nipped for the assists crown by Tara Charles by a mere tenth of a
point. Instead, point to a five-game losing streak in January that culminated with a 90-84 loss at the Bucs.
