nterested students are invited to participate in the Search XII Retreat which takes place March 30-April 1 at Holston Presbytery Camp and Retreat Center in Banner Elk, N.C.
Search XII is a non-denominational religious retreat being sponsored by ETSU’s Catholic Campus Ministry. The retreat offers participants of college age and beyond chances to reflect, pray, share, make friends and deepen their faith.
“It is inspirational and life changing,” said Diana Miller, a senior and the co-director of the retreat. Miller, a veteran of several retreats, says the overnight events give her a perspective she didn’t have before she went.
Activities will include skits and discussions on topics such as forgiveness, commitment, conflict, challenge and Christian living. During the discussions, Miller said participants are expected to speak honestly and be willing to share their thoughts and feelings.
Miller said participants vary from those seeking to deepen and enrich an already existing faith to those in the exploring stage who want to learn more.
Miller said that coming to ETSU was an “eye-opener” and among the benefits of the retreats are the opportunity to be with people who have similar moral values but different points of view.
“The more they know about my religion, the more they know about me as well,” she said.
The trip cost is set at $25, but fund-raisers are being held in an effort to make the trip free of charge.
The application deadline is March 9.
