Have you or your campus organization ever dreamed of preparing a song to sing in front of a large crowd? Are you desperately waiting for your five minutes of fame? Have no fear; the men of Lambda Chi Alpha are here.
The brothers of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity are currently making plans for their annual All-Sing on April 4.
The annual event, which had been on hiatus, has been a tradition within Lambda Chi Alpha, and was revived and started back up again last year.
“It’s not the typical college gathering,” said Jake Gilly, vice president of Lambda Chi Alpha. “It’s a class-act where everyone gets together to do something positive.”
The event is a fund-raiser, hosted by the fraternity, for the Adopt a Rider program of the First Tennessee Human Resource Agency (FTHRA), a program set up by the city of Johnson City.
“The program transports people who do not have a means of transportation or the funds for one. Volunteers drive individuals around to go on errands and get other things done,” Gilly explained. “They survive on donations and supply vehicles and drivers.
“The more donations they get, the more accessible it is to the people who need it most.”
The fraternity raised approximately $800 last year, and donated it to the Adopt a Rider program.
The All-Sing event is a competition between groups of friends, associates and school organizations from ETSU, in which each group prepares a song and performs it.
“We would welcome anyone to do it, ” said Gilly. “The songs can be performed a cappella, or with musical accompaniment.
“It’s more traditional than karaoke, in that the group performing should be much more prepared,” he said.
Lambda Chi Alpha has received a great amount of participation in recent years for the event, and they’re hoping that this year will be even more spectacular.
“This event can bring a lot of people together, and produce long lasting memories,” Gilly said. “It offers a feeling of accomplishment in a very friendly, respectable atmosphere.”
The official deadline for registering for Lambda Chi Alpha’s Annual “All-Sing” event is March 9, and applications are curently being accepted.
March 23 is the final deadline. Any applications turned in later require a late fee of $15. The location for the event is to be announced.
