The long-awaited Treehouse Snack Bar will be opening its doors for business on March 19. According to Charlie Wittmann, assistant director of food services, the new snack bar/deli will have several conveniences from which to choose.
Wittmann said the Burger King portion of the snack bar will be the core of operation. Yet the menu will not be serving all of Burger King’s specialty items. They will, however, include their signature items, such as the Whopper, BK Cravers and others, he said.
There will also be a deli that will offer cold sandwiches and subs as well as a grab-n-go section that will sell bottled drinks.
Wittmann said that the breakfast menu will include things such as biscuits and gravy, sausage biscuits, bacon-egg-and-cheese biscuits, and croissants. Flavored coffee, assorted pastries and cookies will accompany the menu as well, he said.
Seating will offered in the form of picnic tables and a large wooden deck to be finished in the near future.
Currently there are six picnic tables on site which will increase to 15 shortly after spring break, Wittman said. Wittman hopes the deck will be finished soon after opening.
The hours of operation will be 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the weekends.
When asked what happened to the services of Caf Biblio (the kiosk operation in front of Sherrod Library), Wittmann said that the weather, among other things, has kept the kiosk out of service.
As soon as the weather warms up, Caf Biblio will be reopened, he said.
