East Tennessee State’s Jessica Hodge and Tiffany Vandergriff were named the Southern Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week Monday for games played March 27-April 1.
Jessica recorded eight hits in 10 at bats, leading the Buccaneers to a 3-1 record and two conference wins. The junior leftfielder from Morristown, Tenn. was perfect from the plate in three of her four games last week.
In the first game of a doubleheader against Radford, Hodge went 4-for-4 with one run scored. In the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader with Georgia Southern, Hodge went 1-for-1 with two runs scored. In game two against the Eagles, she was the star at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two RBIs and one run scored. Hodge was a major factor in all of the Buccaneer scoring in the 3-2 win. She scored the first run on a Judith St. Clair double in the fourth, and she tripled in the tying and winning runs in the fifth.
