Powell Building Group recently provided ETSU a gift that was used to purchase computers for the construction technology program, complementing existing equipment in the university’s Construction Estimating Laboratory.
Powell Building Group CEO John Finch said he is pleased with the company’s relationship with the university.
“Powell Building Group looks to ETSU’s construction technology program for future construction managers and estimators,” he said. “Five members of our current management staff are graduates of the program, and we actively work with students currently enrolled in the university’s cooperative education program.”
Students will receive training in five major construction areas, including management and supervision, accounting and cost control, field engineering, design and material testing. This curriculum incorporates oral and written communication and cooperative education experiences throughout the program.
“Our future success and growth is dependent on finding and rewarding skilled personnel,” Finch said. “This donation to ETSU is one way to ensure the continued success of the construction program and the production of quality construction managers to the construction industry.”
ETSU’s construction graduates are employable in a large variety of construction and construction-related professions, such as estimator, sales agent, retail sales, project manager, scheduling agent, manufacturing sales, renovator, designer inspector, field supervisor and contract negotiator.
Currently, 100 students are enrolled in the constuction technology program.
