Today, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the events that took place Tuesday.
This tragedy struck at the heart of the nation and each and every American felt its effects.
I can admit that I take things for granted. Living in the most powerful country in the world, I believed that nothing like this would ever happen on our own soil.
However, I now realize that being the strongest does not necessarily make us immune.
It was a sad and terrible event that will most definitely go down in world history. Many have agreed that the emotions and feelings from Tuesday’s events are reminiscent of Pearl Harbor.
A special thanks goes out to the many volunteers who rushed to the aid of our fallen brothers and sisters.
Even if you cannot physically go to help, the least you can do is donate blood, food, clothing, or money. Please offer your support in some way.
I also urge each of you to keep the families of the victims, the volunteers, and our soldiers in your thoughts and/or prayers, no matter your religious affiliation or lack thereof.
Never forget who we are.
Never forget the land we call home.
And finally, let September 11, 2001, serve as a reminder that no matter what happens, no one can destroy our spirit.
