Dear Editor,
I deeply appreciate the tremendous outpouring of compassion this campus has shown for the many thousands of victims of the recent terrorist attacks on our country. Your demonstrations of love and concern reflect the very best of the American spirit. However, I have, in the past few days, received several disturbing reports that some international students and others at ETSU have been subjected to abuse, harassment, and threatening behavior. This will not be tolerated. Individuals who engage in such behavior face rapid and decisive action through the campus judicial system and/or the department of public safety. Incidents of abusive behavior should be reported immediately to the Office of Student Affairs, 439-4210, and the department of public safety, 439-4480.
Paul E. Stanton Jr., president, ETSU
