The men and women’s cross country teams competed in the Blue Ridge Open last Friday night at Appalachian State University.
Both teams finished in fourth place, with Eastern Kentucky and Appalachian State tying on the men’s side with 41 points and Eastern Kentucky winning on the women’s side with 32 points.
The men’s team was led by freshman Bradley Yewer, who finished fourth overall in a season-best time of 25 minutes and 29 seconds over the 8-kilometer course.
The Bucs second finisher was Greg Sprowl, who placed 20th in a time of 26:16.
Behind Sprowl was the Bucs No. 3 runner David Haefner in 28th place in a season-best time of 26:47. The Bucs’ team scoring was rounded out by Mike Farkas in 48th place (29:02) and Lawrence Lockhart in 50th place (30:44).
The Lady Bucs’ top finisher, Rosaline Addo, also placed fourth overall in a time of 18:57 for the 5K course.
Emily Chaney was the Lady Bucs second finisher in 11th place with a time of 19:29, as Lauren Campbell placed 21st in a personal best of 19:59.
Jennifer Habbestad was the Lady Bucs’ fourth runner in 32nd place (21:11) with Jennifer Howard (21:51) and Anna Quarles (22:10) close behind in 36th and 39th place, respectively.
