Ask Catalina Zuluaga about what keeps her going during the game of golf, and her answer will be honest and full of pride.
“I want to keep the ETSU name high in the tournaments,” Zuluaga said.
The well-rounded senior from Cali, Colombia did just that, leaving the Unlimited Potential/Bay Tree Classic in Myrtle Beach on Sept. 10 as the Lady Bucs’ second-finisher and tied for 77th place, with a final score of 246.
“Golf really helps you to grow as an individual”, she said.
She’s been playing in the states for 12 years and first took an interest in golf when she was 10-years-old.
For her, “ETSU was a good opportunity”.
She is majoring in mass communications and hopes to become a reporter after graduating.
She’s definitely made her mark with the Lady Bucs.
Last April, Zuluaga was named Women’s Golfer-of-the-Week by the Southern Conference for her seventh-place finish in the William and Mary Invitational, in which ETSU finished fourth as a team.
She will next travel with the Lady Bucs to Greenville, N.C., to compete at the ECU Fall Intercollegiate from Oct. 14-16.
