The Lady Bucs’ tennis team competed in the James R. Nisbet Intercollegiate Women’s Tournament hosted by Campbell University.
Although the tournament was cancelled due to rain, ETSU athletes faired well in during the tournament’s first and second rounds.
In the Flight A bracket, sophomore Jessica Irey defeated Gardner-Webb’s Courtney McInnis in three sets, 4-6, 7-5 and 6-0.
Irey advanced to the third round where she lost a tough match to Campbell’s Carmen Linder, 6-2 and 6-0.
In the Flight B bracket, sophomore Aimee Villavicencio advanced to the third round also by defeating Melissa DeJong of Gardner-Webb, 6-0 and 6-4.
Villavicencio faced Isabel Declerq of Campbell in the third round with Declerq winning, 6-0 and 6-1.
Villavicencio also competed in doubles competition, teaming with Elena Iltcheva.
Villavicencio and Iltcheva lost their second round match with UNC-Charlotte’s team of Jennifer Hatch and Lauren Hastings, by a score of 8-1.
