ETSU is one school out of 171 that is involved with the National Student Exchange, NSE. The organization is for students who are interested in studying in diverse environments and geographical areas.
“The program diversifies your major and gives you a different aspect of you major. It also gives you an opportunity for academic and personal growth,” said Maria Costa, associate director of international programs.
NSE helps students to access different courses, unusual programs, field studies and internships. The program also allows the student to investigate graduate programs, professional schools and careers options to enhance their field of study.
This organization gives students an opportunity to expand the education process in a new and challenging environment. Any student with a 2.5 GPA is eligible to apply to the program.
During the exchange, students may pay their regular tuition and fees to ETSU or their host institution.
They will also be required to pay housing and other special fees to their host institution. Students who are eligible for financial assistance will apply for aid as they regularly would at ETSU by submitting the Free Applications for Federal Student Aid, FAFSA.
Students who are interested in the program can apply at the Office of International Programs, 100 Yoakely Hall. Deadlines for submitting applications for the next academic year’s placement is Feb. 26.
The first of a number of information sessions will be held on Oct. 18 at 10 a.m. Two other meetings will be held on Nov. 29 at 10 a.m. and again at 2 p.m.
