The Buccaneer soccer team defeated The Citadel, 6-0, last Sunday afternoon in Charleston, S.C., at Summerall Field for its first Southern Conference win of the season.
Senior forward Lisa Gallagher led the charge, scoring twice for the Bucs.
ETSU went on the offense early in the match, as just two minutes into the first half senior Kristin Redfern scored an unassisted goal to put the Bucs ahead, 1-0.
The Bucs scored their second goal of the afternoon when Gallagher got the ball in the net with an assist from Redfern at the 28-minute mark.
Junior Liz Smith then added a goal to make the score 3-0 at the 32:00 mark.
After the half, freshman Jennifer Meslar made a goal on her only shot of the day before Redfern and Gallagher hooked up again with Gallagher scoring her second goal of the game off the assist from Redfern 69 minutes into the game.
Freshman Katherine Gentry then scored her first career goal at ETSU off an assist from fellow freshman Katie Kilday.
Junior goalkeeper Heather Sanden earned four saves and faced eight shots on the day.
Gallagher attempted 10 shots; six were on goal with two going in the net.
Redfern shot the ball five times, had four shots on goal with one going into the net and also added two assists.
Smith attempted four shots, three on goal, scoring one.
The Bucs will next travel to Western Carolina on Friday.
