The ETSU women’s golf team came in third out of 25 teams at the Great Smokies Women’s Intercollegiate from the Waynesville Country Club in Waynesville, N.C.
The Lady Bucs shot a two round score of 614, 312 in the first and 302 in the second, to finish just two shots behind team champion, Elon College.
The second-round score was the best round in ETSU history, surpassing the 304 shot in the Penn State Nittany Lion Invitational on Oct. 2, 1999.
Individually, ETSU had four players finish within 10 strokes of the lead.
Senior Catalina Zuluaga led the way for ETSU, finishing in a tie for ninth, shooting rounds of 78 and 73 for a 151 score, at 7-over par, five strokes behind individual champion, Line Cordes of host Western Carolina.
Freshman Alysa Few notched her second consecutive top-20 finish, tying for 16th (79-74=153) at nine-over par.
Senior Mimmie Dymling and sophomore Kristin Fletcher tied for 26th at 11-over par.
Freshman Danielle O’Reilly was the final Buccaneer finisher, tying for 68th (79-85=164) at 20-over par.
“We have made huge strides as a team these past couple of weeks,” said head coach Katie Weiss. “We decided when I got here last December that to bring this team and the program as a whole up to where it needs to be, we have to take steps.
“I feel this tournament brings us one step closer to where we want to be.
