The office of Multicultural Affairs is sponsoring a panel discussion of education issues Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Culp Center auditorium.
Guest speakers will include Johnson City School Board member Lottie Ryans, Vincent Dial, principal of Northside Elementary School, and Adrian Murray, public relations coordinator of Johnson City schools.
“The panelists will discuss upcoming initiatives on education the Johnson City School Board is taking, and they will answer questions from the audience as well,” said Laura Terry, director of Multicultural Affairs.
In addition, the African American speakers will address practices and employment within the school system, their individual roles within it and how they obtained their positions.
Terry said this first-time event is just one of several ways in which the Office of Multicultural Affairs is working to augment the cultural diversity of the campus.
“This will let students know we do have a voice within the school system,” she said. “These initiatives are for everyone.”
