ETSU’s baseball team has been selected for a seventh-place finish in the 2002 Southern Conference baseball season in polls released by the conference. The voting in the polls was done by the league’s head coaches and sports information directors.

Head coach Tony Skole is beginning his third season at ETSU and returns six position starters and nine of the team’s 10 pitchers from last year’s squad that also finished seventh in the conference with an overall record of 23-32, 13-17 in league action.

The Bucs will begin play on Feb. 15 when they open a three-game series at national power South Carolina.

Georgia Southern, which has won the last two regular season titles, was the unanimous selection in both polls to finish first, followed by The Citadel.

Both polls agreed on the top seven places for the 2002 SoCon race.
