Senior Jennifer Howard, sophomore Uloma Nwagbara and freshman Ashley Taylor placed fourth, fifth and sixth in the 400-meter dash on Saturday at the Rod McCravy Invitational at the University of Kentucky.
The three Lady Buc sprinters finished less than a second apart from each other with Howard leading the way with a time of 57.35 seconds as Nwagbara finished closely behind in 57.63 with Taylor following closely behind in 57.97.
Also competing in the 400 were Nichola Cornish (12th place, 58.87), Kim Simmons (21st, 1:01.22) and Tiffany Collier (22nd, 1:01.63).
The Lady Bucs also received a strong performance and their top placing came from senior Roseline Addo in the 800-meter run. Addo finished third overall with a time of 2 minutes and 11.92 seconds.
Taylor also placed 30th in the 200 in 26.36 as Simmons also competed in the 60-meter hurdles, placing 23rd in 9.77.
Nwagbara turned in the Lady Bucs’ top placing in the long jump, placing fifth with a jump of 17 feet and 3.25 inches with sophomore Kristen Truman placing ninth in 16’10”.
Sophomore Natasha Peyton also competed in the 200, placing 25th in 26.17 and placed 16th in the 60-meter dash (8.05).
Senior Lauren Campbell placed 12th in the one-mile run in 5:19.48.
On the men’s side, the Bucs’ top placing came from freshman James Grufferty in the 3000-meter run. Grufferty finished fifth overall with a time of 8:37.54, a season-best time. Grufferty also placed 11th in the one-mile run in 4:19.57.
Freshman Brad Yewer also ran well for the Bucs, placing seventh overall in the one-mile run in 4:17.87 and 10th in the 3000 in 8:40.51.
Sophomore David Haefner competed in the mile and 3000, also, placing 23rd in the 3000 (9:02.27) and 24th in the mile (4:27.24).
Senior Josh Artau put in a top-10 effort for ETSU with his eighth place performance in the shot put (51’09”).
