UNC Greensboro used a 30-2 run in the second half to blow open the game and take a 91-58 victory over the ETSU Lady Bucs’ basketball team on Saturday afternoon in Greensboro, N.C.
The 91 points was the most scored by UNCG since a 92-75 win in the quarterfinals of the 2000 SoCon tournament over Appalachian State on March 3, 2000.
It’s also the most points ever scored by UNCG against ETSU. The 33-point winning margin is the largest ever by either team in the 17-game series, which UNCG now leads 10-7 with its third straight over the Lady Bucs.
UNCG moves to 11-1 at home this season, tying the record for most home victories in Fleming Gym.
The Spartans remain in first place in the conference at 13-3, while ETSU fell to 10-15 and 5-11 in the SoCon.
Jacinda Lambert scored 12 of her game-high 20 points in the first half as UNCG built a 45-27 halftime advantage.
The Lady Bucs made a run to begin the second half, as they used a 10-6 run to come within 12, 51-39, with 15:36 left in the game.
That’s when UNCG took over the contest, as eight different Spartans all scored during a 30-2 run over the next 9:07.
They took their largest lead of the game of 40 points, 81-41, on a layup from Stephanie Britt at the 6:29 mark.
Lambert was 9-for-12 from the floor for her 20 points. Also in double figures for UNCG, Jennifer Hart scored 16 points on 7-for-9 shooting, while Megan Honeycutt posted a career-high 12 points off the bench on 6-for-8 shooting.
Sandi Reid posted eight points, eight rebounds, and three blocks.
The Lady Bucs were led by Misty Copas and Lauren Trantham both with 11 points. Kiya Verdell added nine points.
The Lady Bucs return to action on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. against SoCon foe Furman at Memorial Center.
