The ETSU men’s tennis team defeated Tennessee Tech, 5-2, on Friday afternoon at Memorial Center.
The team was led by Marcos Pavlovich, who won his No. 1 singles match over Tennessee Tech’s Gernot Fischer, 6-1 and 6-4.
Pavlovich and Roberto Fernandez also combined in doubles to defeat Fischer and Razvan Ilie, 9-7.
The Bucs won two of three doubles matches. However, the Buccaneers really cleaned up in the singles matches, winning four out of six.
Pavlovich, Pablo Sahagun, Fernandez and Diego Iglesias were all winners in singles action.
The Bucs improved to 6-4 for the season, while Tennessee Tech fell to 7-9.
The 53rd-ranked ETSU men’s tennis team dropped to 6-5 on Saturday after losing to Charleston Southern in a close match, 4-3, at the ETSU Tennis Center.
ETSU split the singles matches with Charleston Southern, but CSU won the doubles point.
In doubles competition, Charleston Southern won both matches 8-5. Marcos Pavlovich and Roberto Fernandez lost to CSU’s Tomas Miho and Rohan Wadehra.
Charleston Southern’s Soufiane Rechag and Zalan Kiss defeated the ETSU duo of Diego Iglesias and Moises Serrano, 8-5.
The Buccaneers and Charleston Southern split the singles matches.
CSU won the No. 1-3 matches and ETSU took the bottom three spots.
Pavlovich was defeated by Miho in three tough sets, 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.
Wadehra took the No. 2 match from Pablo Sahagun, 6-0 and 6-0. Fernandez was defeated 6-2, 6-3 by Rodrigo Villarroel.
Iglesias won over Kiss by the scores of 6-3 and 6-0. Alejandro Salazar won the No. 5 match in three sets (4-6, 6-4, 7-6) over Rechag and Serrano defeated Ariel Fufuro in the No. 6 spot, 7-6 and 6-0.
