ETSU broke its four-game losing streak last Saturday afternoon, pounding out a season-high 20 hits and getting a complete-game performance from Donnie Sharp as the Buccaneers took a 15-1 win over Binghamton in the first of the three-game series at Cardinal Park.
After taking a 1-0 lead in the first, ETSU (7-12) took care of business early, scoring five more runs in the second to take control of the contest.
Kirk Keithley and Brandon Cross started things off with singles to open the inning. After moving up a base on a ground out, Tim Turner brought home Keithley with a ground out to second. Matt Traylor then doubled home Cross to make it 3-0.
After Jeremy Terry singled into the hole at short to put runners at first and third, he and Terry pulled off a double steal to make it 4-0.
After a walk to Bryan Crouse, Chad Boruff got the first two of his four RBIs on the day, doubling home both runners to complete the scoring.
ETSU got to Binghamton (4-11) starter David Eagan for three more in the fifth.
Boruff led off with his third home run of the season before the Bucs added two more on a double-play ball with the bases loaded and a Binghamton error.
Cross added a two-run double in the sixth and the Bucs got four more in the seventh on a solo home run from Turner and RBI singles from Michael Giroud and Ryan Hyder.
Sharp was just that for ETSU on the mound, hurling the team’s second complete game of the season, allowing just seven hits, striking out four and walking just one.
The only run the Bearcats could muster came in the fourth when Tony Berube doubled with one out, moved to third on a ground out and scored on a single by Tim Collar.
Keithley led the ETSU attack with four hits in five trips, scoring three times.
Boruff and Terry each had three hits, with Boruff driving in four with a double and home run. T.J. Kowalchuk was the only Bearcat with more than one hit, finishing with a 2-for-4 afternoon.

Binghamton pitching limited ETSU to 13 hits in two games on Sunday, sweeping a double header from the Bucs by scores of 4-2 and 9-6.
Binghamton (6-11) got back-to-back doubles from Tim Collar and Jacob Thiel to lead off the second inning in game one to take an early 1-0 lead.
ETSU (7-14) responded in the bottom of the third with a pair of scores to take a 2-1 advantage on an RBI triple by Tim Turner and an RBI single off the bat of Matt Traylor.
That would prove to be all that ETSU would get off Bearcat starter Greg Sousa, who went all the way in the seven inning contest, allowing just four hits and one earned run to pick up his third win of the season.
Binghamton tied the game in the fifth off ETSU starter Reid Casey when Austin Walters led off with a single, moved to second on a wild pitch, and scored on a one-out double from Tony Berube.
The Bearcats scored what proved to be the winning runs in the sixth when Berube, who was 4-for-4 in the game, singled to left with the bases loaded to plate two runs.
It was the Bucs who took an early lead in game two, scoring a run in the second inning. With one out John Gorton was hit by the pitch and then stole second. After a walk to Kirk Keithley, Michael Giroud doubled to left center to score Gorton.
Binghamton came right back with two runs in the third, scoring one run when ETSU’s starter, Turner, threw away a sacrifice attempt into right field. Berube’s ground out to third plated another, and the Bearcats had a 2-1 lead.
A seven-run fourth blew the game open for Binghamton, as the Bearcats plated the seven scores on just two hits, taking advantage of a pair of ETSU errors. Another throwing error by Turner allowed the first run to score. Mike Bauer came on with the bases loaded and hit the first batter he faced and then gave up a two-run single to Tom Cummings to make it 6-1. Another ETSU error gave Binghamton another run, before the Bearcats added two more on a Stephen Kohn sac fly and an RBI groundout by Jamie Boyer.
Giroud started an ETSU comeback attempt with a two-run home run in the fourth.
The Bucs then added three more in the fifth. A pair of singles by Jeremy Terry and Davis Burklin set the table for Chad Boruff, who brought both runners home with a double to center. Boruff later scored on a sac fly off the bat of Keithley to make it 9-6.
Trevor Smith and Jackson Simerly each threw two innings of scoreless relief for ETSU in the nightcap.
Berube had the big day for Binghamton at the plate, going a combined 5-for-8 with four RBIs.
Burklin and Giroud each had a pair of hits in game two, with Giroud knocking home three runs, including smacking his first collegiate round-tripper.
