Dear Editor,
For the last few weeks all I have read in the “Letters to the Editor” portion of the East Tennessean are letters complaining about parking. Would you people quit your complaining and grow up? Most of the people that complain are the same people who go to the gym everyday for an hour to exercise. As college students we need to exercise considering all the junk food we eat and all the beer we drink, plus parking is not that far away. Be happy you actually can walk. I have classes at all different times of the day and never have had to walk that far – especially as far as everyone complains they have to walk. We are lucky here at ETSU; at other universities such as Texas Tech students aren’t even allowed to drive to campus. They have to park on the outside and walk, and that is a lot bigger campus than this one. If you can’t walk from Bojangles then you need to get here early enough to ride the shuttle and deal with it. As far as dorm parking is concerned, if you have to leave during regular school hours, deal with the fact that you have to walk when you get back. As far as leaving on the weekends, if you get back by Sunday, people like me who commute to campus won’t be here to take your spot. The complaint about the Adelphia/Carnegie building first was that you had to walk across the busy road. Isn’t there a bridge to walk across? I distinctly remember them shutting part of State of Franklin down to build it. Now the complaint is that students can’t park over there. What will make you people happy? The parking lot near McDonalds is not that far away from the English and music building and it is never full when I’m here. If it’s such a problem to know where to park, let me know and I’ll show you the closest parking lot to your class. If parking is such a problem for you drop out or leave ETSU and find a university with better parking and return when you grow up!
