ETSU freshman pitcher Courtney Jenkins was named Southern Conference Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week for her performance during the week of Apr. 8-14.
Courtney was sparkling on the mound for the Bucs (19-24, 7-8 Southern Conference) last week, going 4-1 with a 0.27 ERA in five appearances. Jenkins had four starts and four complete games last week, tossing three shutouts.
The only appearance that Jenkins had last week that was not a complete game was a win she picked up in relief against Southern Conference rival Furman.
Against Furman, Jenkins was flawless.
Jenkins picked up wins in all three games of the series, allowing the Bucs to tie the Lady Paladins in the SoCon standings. Jenkins pitched shutouts in the first and third games of the series and picked up a win in relief in the second.
For the week, Jenkins pitched 26 innings, allowing one earned run on 22 hits and just two walks while striking out 16.
For the season, Courtney leads the team in most pitching categories with a 10-8 record, 3.12 ERA, 15 complete games, three shutouts, four saves and 81 strikeouts.
The award is Jenkins’ second such honor, as she also won the Southern Conference Pitcher-of-the-Week on Mar. 20.
The Bucs return to action on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. as they play UNC Wilmington in a Southern Conference doubleheader from Metro-Kiwanis Park in Johnson City.
The series concludes on Sunday 1 p.m.
